Unlike the much talked about Dumsor Must Stop demonstration (spearheaded by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson) that saw thousands of people and a lot of celebrities supporting and attending, Kumasi’s own replica organized by the Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG) tagged “Esum Aduru Yen Demo” to wit Darkness has befallen us saw no a little over 500 people with no major actor or actress attending the event.
Although Lilwin’s manager was present, the most sought after actor was not present and so was Nana Ama McBrown, Vivian Jill, Emelia Brobbey, Kyeiwaa, Mercy Asideu and many others.
Also absent was the FIPAG president, Mr. S. Asare Hackman. According to reliable information reaching www.nydjlive.com, the president tied the knot the same day.
The event which started around 5pm despite an initial time of 3pm saw hundreds of people clad in red and black gather at the Kumasi Cultural Centre where the demonstration commenced.
The demonstrators later walked through the streets of Bantama, Adum through to the Jubilee Park where they were addressed by the FIPAG secretary Mr. James Aboagye.
Present were a few popularly film producers, marketers and actors.
According to Socrates Sarfo who was also missing, the turn out was encouraging since the association has just 288 registered members.
The event was however nearly marred by heavy downpour at its commencement.
