After a friendly game between Ghanaian actors and actress and their Nigerian counterparts at the Kumasi Sports Stadium in March, it was reported that Ghanaian actor and On Air Personality with Accra based Live FM Van Vicker sustained a leg injury and has finally spoken bitterly about the unconcerned nature of the Ghana Actors Guild after the incdent.
According to the actor who is currently in Ghana to shoot a movie and return to the States for a check up, ’I was first admitted at Sunshine Hospital in Ghana and later transferred to United states of America where I am still receiving medical treatment, but had to come to Ghana to continue with my movie shoot, and then go back for check- up He told Nigeriafilms.com
‘I believe one of the responsibilities of the Guild is to support its members, or support the interest of Ghanaian actors. I am a member of GAG and that was why I went to play for the Guild and also to represent Ghana in the name of the Guild. I was told that the match was to celebrate Ghana’s Independence Day and if for nothing at all, the Guild should have shown concern,’- He further stated.
However, the President of Ghana Actors Guild, Mr. Samuel Nii Odoi Mensah explained the Guild’s inability to support him financially was due to the fact that members of the group do not pay dues and therefore was in no position to help in that terms. He stated he often checked up on him just as other members did.
