A very reliable source close to the Kojo Antwi camp has confirmed to this website that the highlife musician and the event’s organisers, Imajin Advertising, have agreed terms and that he would be the main artiste to be celebrated on November 1 when the event would take place.

When we contacted Fred Kyei of Imajin Advertising for confirmation he responded that he was not in the position to comment on the matter because they have planned a launch of the event on Thursday to announce who will be the legend to be celebrated this year.

“We have over the years chosen the best, tried and tested artistes in Ghana to celebrate at the MTN Legends and Legacy Ball since we started in 2011 and rest assured we are going to continue the tradition by celebrating a great Ghanaian musician,” he said. “However, who this music great is will be made known to you and the entire world this Thursday at the event launch.”

The launch of the event has been planned for the Oak Plaza Hotel off the Spintex Road in Accra at 5:30pm on Thursday (this evening) October 2, 2014. Our source is unimpeachable and so we believe, at this website, that no other artiste than Kojo Antwi will be announced as the legend to be celebrated this year.

It will be recalled that prior to the third edition of the show last year, speculations were rife in the media that the artiste to be celebrated was Kojo Antwi until the day of the announcement when the organisers unveiled A.B. Crentsil as the one.

Rumour had it then that Kojo Antwi and Imajin could not agree to terms and so they had to go separate ways thereby leaving the latter with no choice than to choose Crentsil for the show.

The first Ghanaian artiste to have been celebrated in such a manner at the maiden event was Daddy Lumba in 2011. The next heavyweight to be celebrated at the MTN Legends and Legacy Ball the following year was Abrantie Amakye Dede leaving Kojo Antwi, after A.B. Crentsil, as the fourth to be done that honour this year.

At the previous events, some of the Ghanaian artistes (and even foreign artiste in the case of Amakye Dede where Freddy Meiwei showed up) performed some of the songs of the legend being celebrated. This year, sources have it that, some of the artistes likely to mount the stage along with the maestro are Edem, Samini, Afryie and Efya.

Prepare to celebrate with the man who for many years has crooned many great and scintillating songs such as Dadie Anomaa, Akonoba, Pour Some Sugar, Ammirika, Densu, Odo Ano Wappi, Me Die Ne Woa, Onipa Odo Me, Spread His Love, Nyankonton and Nfa Me Nko Ho for the enjoyment of his compatriots and others.

Legends don’t come bigger than Kojo Antwi and Imajin Advertising have chosen the right candidate once again.

This year’s MTN Legends and Legacy Ball, like the previous three, will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on November 1.
