Popular Ghanaian humorist Derrick Kobina Bonney aka DKB who has come under several criticisms as not being humorous from a section of the Ghanaian audience and especially from Ghanaian radio DJ and critic Nii Aryee Tagoe seems to be on the verge of putting critics to shame as he set off with an extraordinary performance over the weekend.
The comedian DKB seemed to have given Nii a reason to put a paper bag over his head as he thrilled fans at a valentine night-out organized by Multi TV, who by the way are Mr. Tagoe ‘s employers.
The reaction of the crowd proved that they were in no doubts about DKB’s craftsmanship as a humor therapist. From the moments he stepped on stage, he left the crowd holding unto their ribs – there was a mixture of love and uncompromised humor in the air. DKB delivered the best of jokes which related to the Ghanaian social climate, making it easier for the crowd to understand. There were constant outbursts of laughter as the crowd roared with joy. Silent murmurs of protest were widespread when DKB’s performance was over. It seemed the crowd wanted to see none but DKB, as he had left them with an insatiable thirst for humor brewed in a Ghanaian pot.
DKB seemed to have silenced skeptics like Nii Aryee Tagoe and George Quaye who have unconstructively criticized his art. The buzz of his awesome performance was all over social media, as newly converted DKB fans took to twitter to express gladness, love and respect for the superstar.
