Asking Ghanaian DJs to stop Playing Nigerian Music is a Useless Talk – Yaa Pono

For a while, a number of Ghanaian artist managers, musicians and social media influencers have argued and called for a higher percentage of Ghanaian or domestic content on all media platforms.

Among the specifics has been that Nigerian music be cut off our platforms since they seem to enjoy more airplay on our media platforms and even in night clubs.

Uptown Energy Record Label┬ásigned artist Yaa Pono also known as Ponobiom has a different opinion. According to him, the call for radio presenters and DJs to quit playing Nigerian music is simply “selfish and a useless talk”

Yaa Pono believes it is time the Ghanaian artists worked harder so as to cross to other territories and not to call for a ban. He also called for his colleagues to be humble just like the Nigerian artists.

In a post on Instagram, Yaa Pono stated he believes in “everyone does music to cross globally”

Read his post from below.

” Instead of Ghanaian industry working hard they rather saying dj’s should stop playing Nigerian music in me, that is very selfish and a useless talk.Everyone does music to cross globally.
