It’s been a rollercoaster ride for the ‘African boy with a big drip’, Yaw TOG since his debut hit single Sore hit the global market.
From one award to the other, the young chap who just released a 7-track EP titled My Time has been nominated for in the prestigious EMY Africa Awards.
The youngest nominee in this year’s awards scheme, Yaw TOG born Thorsten Owusu Gyimah was nominated in the Best Discovery of The Year category.
He faces off with 3 others including popular YouTuber Wode Maya, Steve French and Kwabena Offei-Kwadey Nkrumah.
The nominees of the competitive categories for the 6th EMY Africa Awards 2021 were announced at the official launch event on 31st July.
The EMY Awards Faculty President in his speech encouraged people to vote for their favourite nominees as the voting lines have been officially opened. He furthered stated that the winners of the honorary award categories would be announced on the main awards night.
The EMY Awards Faculty also announced the introduction of new awards categories this year. What was hitherto, the Man of the Year – Entertainment Award has been broken down into the following:
- Music Man of the Year
- Actor of the Year
- Creative and Support Arts Award
The 6th EMY Africa Awards 2021 will be held in October.

Scoring will be 40 per cent for the public and 60 per cent for technical made up of expert and faculty votes. This process will be managed and supervised by event statisticians – EY Ghana.
