Every year, professionals in the film and television across Africa look forward to just one major awards scheme; the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).
However, 2019 has been different as the awards scheme did not hold.
With questions on the minds of people, Channel Director, Africa Magic, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu took advantage of the second edition of the Multichoice Media Showcase held in Johannesburg to explain the absence of AMVCA last year.
According to her, there were too many things happening on the channels.
“Obviously, last year there was a lot happening on the channels, we had Big Brother. So just in terms of spacing and ensuring that viewers do have content that they watch and had keyed in, it was delayed and we’re now bringing it to you”, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said.
She also explained why only a few categories are voted on by the viewers despite being name Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. She announced the return of the AMVCAs with the 7th edition.
