The Ghana Film Sector may soon witness a facelift should the new consensus arrived at and resolutions taken by various bodies and associations in Ghana at the recently held two day conference at Royal Lamerta Hotel in Kumasi be effected.
The two day conference held under the theme, “Positioning the film Industry to meet International Standards” saw a gathering of representatives from various associations that mattered in the film sector including Film Producers Association of Ghana (FIPAG), Actresses association of Ghana (ACTAG), Ghana Actors Guild (GAG), Ghana Film Crew Association (GHAFCA), Distributors Association of Ghana and many others.
After discussing topical issues facing the sector including the problems of the sector, unification of various associations, building proper structures, institution of investment fund for veteran industry players, the establishment of of a box office system, the various stakeholders arrived at forming a Film Federation of Ghana which might soon come into fusion.
They also arrived at various resolutions to make the sector grow into an industry with the right structures in place. A research will soon be carried out to outline the prospects of the film industry and its contribution to Ghana.
Addressing the stakeholders, President of the Film Producers Association of Ghana, Mr. Asare Hackman expressed his profound excitement at the resolutions taken.
