The nominees list for the 2015 Ghana Movie Awards are out and quite characteristic of most awards schemes, the bickering and the accusations have begun.
Minutes after announcing the nominees for the awards at the Silverbirds Cinemas in Accra, Ghana, actor cum movie producer Eddie Nartey registered his utmost displeasure at the organizers for nominating multiple award winning film ‘Beasts of No Nation’, a movie he (just like Yvonne Nelson) believes that qualifies as an international movie.
In a post on Instagram, the actor described the situation as SAD.

Prior to the nominations list being announced, actress Yvonne Nelson vociferously called against the nomination of ‘Beasts of No Nation’ claiming the movie it was not a local production.
However, Fred Nuamah, the founder and CEO of the Ghana Movie Awards argues that the movie qualifies since it was ‘produced by a Ghanaian’.
He cited Tony Tagoe and Danny Damah as the producers of the movie, thus the reason why Beasts Of No Nation qualified for the award. The two were therefore nominated for the Best Picture nod. The film’s IMDb page lists Daniel Damah as a line producer for Ghana, and Tony Tagoe as co-producer.
