The first batch of nominations for was announced on CBS This Morning Monday by Alicia Keys, a 15-time Grammy Award winner herself, who revealed the musicians contesting for the four General Field categories: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist.
Fifteen minutes later, nominations of all 83 categories were announced via a press release and were made available on Grammy.com.
Securing a nomination and the first ever for Ghana is iconic Reggae musician Rocky Dawuni whose has Branches of the same tree been nominated in the Best Reggae category together with Jah Cure, Barrington Levy and Morgan Heritage.
Kendrick Lamar leads this year’s nominees list with 11 nominations.
The Grammys is set to air Monday, Feb. 15, 2016 and Kendrick Lamar leads with 11 nominations.
