Revised! Check The Official Public Holidays And Commemorative Days In Ghana

The President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has assented to the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2019, (Act 986), on 16^th April, 2019.

The Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2019, (Act 986) states, Statutory Public Holidays and Commemorative days.

Below are the official statutory holidays and commemorative days.

Public Holidays

New Year’s Day                                                          –           1^st January

Constitution Day                                                        –           7^th January

Independence Day                                                     –           6^th March

Good Friday                                                               

Easter Monday

Eid-Al-Adha (Hajj)

Eid-Al-Firt (Ramadan)                                               

Workers’ Day                                                              –           1^st May

Founders’ Day                                                            –           4^th August

Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day                               –           21^st September

Farmers Day                                                               –        1^st Friday in December

Christmas Day                                                            –           25^th December

Boxing Day                                                                  –           26^th December

Commemorative Days

African Union Day                                                      –           25^th May

Republic Day                                                              –           1^st July

Whilst the public holiday days would be observed as such, the commemorative days would only be observed but not to be observed as holidays.

A statement signed by the Minister for the Interior, Ambrose Derry (MP) admonished the general public to take notice and observe them accordingly accordingly.
