Photos: Kumawood App Finally Launched – All Your Favourite Movies In One Place

The much awaited Kumawood App has been launched.

Yes, patrons of movies made in local Ghanaian dialects will now have the leisure of watching their favourite movies anywhere in the world at via the Kumawood App on their phones.

This was made possible through a giant collaboration between Samuale Darko (Chief Executive Officer of Kumwood Film Festival & Awards), MTEC-Communications (mobile apps developers) and MTN.

Speaking at the launch of the APP in Kumasi on Wednesday, the General Manger in charge of Consumer Marketing at MTN, Mr Noel Kojo-Garson, said the partnership forms part of the vision of the company to launch the movie industry into the digital world.

He said Kumawood was fast growing within the movie industry of Ghana and the collaboration was to put the industry in the limelight.

“Consumers would have the opportunity to buy daily, weekly, monthly and annual packs to watch movies. It is relatively cheaper on the side of the customer and also remember that if we don’t make it cheap for the customer to be able to view, it is a volume gained. The more people you get on the platform, the better it is for the players within this App,” he stated.

Mr. Samuel Darko of Kumawood Multimedia lauded the initiative and called for support from colleague movie producers to make the venture a successful one.

With over 200 movies, short films and skits loaded already, subscribers have a wide variety of movies with subtitling to choose from.

To download the Kumawood App, visit the App store and search for Kumawood App and follow the registration process.

Watching movies on the Kumawood App is by subscription and subscription could be paid via MTN Mobile Money, Visa etc.
