Opinion: Herty Borngreat’s Comments Are Very Funny

Herty Borngreat With Her Awards from Last Year Ghana Music Awards

It somehow comes to me a funny feeling the supposed reason behind Ghanaian Gospel musician Herty’s Borngreat decision not to file for nomination at this year’s Ghana Music Awards. On Friday January 24th 2014, the musician disclosed via her official page on social networking platform Facebook that she was not filing for a nomination at this year’s awards due to the fact that she was placing priority on her masters degree despite we all knowing the obvious.

In a year that saw the likes of Joyce Blessing, Cwesi Oteng and so many others hijack our airwaves with their songs, I believe we need no professional to tell us the the current reigning Gospel Artiste of the Year, Herty Borngreat was of no such ‘relevance’ to the Ghanaian Music Industry, especially the Gospel fraternity in the year under review and does not even deserve a nomination as such. Her update therefore comes to me as very flimsy and funny excuse.

Well, I’m not asking her to quit her masters degree for the awards (which is another person’s business venture) since I am one fella who believes in education so much especially of the opposite sex but my question is, how long does it take in filing for a nomination? Would filing for a nomination and perhaps campaigning for votes should she pick up a nomination mean she puts her education on hold? Doesn’t she have a team? Oh Yes!! I know she has a strong team that is so much into her promotions and could step in for her or? Just thinking aloud.

Just as we say, “One man’s meat is another man’s poison”, I believe this comes as good news for other Gospel musicians who may be nominated since she wouldn’t have the chance to pull a surprise on them just like she did to Asem and kwabena Kwabena’s Bye Bye song which had been touted the best collaboration for the 2013 music awards.

I wish you well Herty and hope you bounce back after your studies but I would please advise you keep mute than to make such unnecessary statements as Ghana and the world knows the obvious.

Check out her post on Facebook.
