Nigerian music icon Burna Boy has just reiterated the undeniable fact that most successful youth events held in Ghana for the past six years have been due to the influence of Ghana’s number one urban radio station YFM.
Burna Boy who was billed to perform at the DiGonGon concert together with South African hiphop artist AKA and Ghanaian BET Award winner Sarkodie in Ghana on Friday April 24 2014 met the shock of his life as little over 40 people attended the event leading to a NO show at the event.
Speaking exclusively to host of YFM’s Y Campus Express, Joel Orleans, a day after the unfortunate incidence, Burna Boy stated he together with his manager had been on tour and could not monitor promotions in Ghana but the least he expected from the organizers was to promote the show.
“The least I just expected from the organizers was, promote the show, do your thing. Do things that organizers are supposed to do but I get to Ghana and find out that’s not the case. I couldn’t be monitoring what was going on because we’ve been on tour” He stated.
Burna Boy further explained he was surprised the event had no radio advert on YFM and described that as “a major violation”.
Speaking on how he felt after the unfortunate incidence, the artist disclosed he feels much disrespected by organizers since they had not even contacted him since the time of granting the interview.
“This makes me feel disrespected as an artist, it makes me feel my fans are disrespected and violated because at the end of the day, it’s my name on the line and not the organizers name on the show and for the fact that my name is on the show does not mean I’m the one organizing the show.’
The Rockstar artist however apologized and asked fans to understand him since he was only contacted to perform and hence and did not have any hand in the organization of the event. He also asked fans to go for a refund.
