I’m Done With Golden Movie Awards, My Money Is Gone – Mimi Andani Cries

Ghanaian musician Wilhelmina Abiba Abu Andani popularly known as Mimi says she is no longer going to organize the Golden Movie Awards.

The CEO and Executive Director of the awards scheme blamed the decision to retire the scheme on the lack of support from corporate Ghana.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie in an interview on Joy FM monitored by Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment News -www.nydjlive.com, the frustrated Tattoo and Leave Me Alone singer revealed she did everything within her power to produce a great show worth support but had none from sponsors.

“We invested our own money for seven years. We did everything right to make sure companies would come on board but zero! Nobody knows how we do the awards.

There’s just no support when it comes to our industry, so how do we go on? As it stands, I don’t think I will organize Golden Movie Awards again! My money is gone! No company is willing to sponsor me…” she complained.

She however applauded the movie industry for the amazing support they showed her whilst the award existed.

“They supported Golden Movie Awards with their hearts. I receive several calls and messages from industry people begging me not to give up. They give me a 1000% of their support.”

Established in 2015, the Golden Movie Awards is an annual award that seeks to honour outstanding achievement in the African television, digital media and film industry.
