“I Told Her To Leave” – Amaarae’s Mother And Manager Breaks Silence On Why Pop Star FAILED To Perform At ‘Taste The Culture’
Fans who gathered at the Independence Square on Friday, December 26, 2025, for the highly anticipated Taste The Culture event were left disappointed after Ghanaian-American global sensation Amaarae reportedly walked out of the venue without performing.
The “Sad Girlz Luv Money” hitmaker, who was one of the headline acts for the night, was spotted leaving the grounds despite being billed to take the stage. Following the confusion and social media chatter surrounding her sudden departure, her mother and manager, Ama Bawuah, has come forward to clear the air.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Ama Bawuah expressed her frustration with the event’s organization, citing unprofessionalism and extreme delays as the primary reasons for the walkout.
In a candid post, she explained that Amaarae had arrived at the venue early and had been waiting for four hours, but the organizers failed to meet the required standards for the performance.
”Because she doesn’t subscribe to mediocrity. She invests in preparation, and they switch up on her with all sorts of inefficiencies,” Bawuah wrote.
She further emphasized that the team had reached their limit after showing considerable patience toward the event organizers.
”She’d been there 4 hours. We’d been extremely patient with the organizers until it was just too much. I’m her mother/manager. I told her to leave,” she added.
The statement highlights a recurring issue in the Ghanaian event space regarding technical hitches and “Ghana Time” delays, which often clash with the professional standards of international touring artists. Amaarae, known for her meticulous attention to detail and high-quality stage productions, appears to have drawn a line in the sand against “mediocrity.”
As of the time of this report, the organizers of Taste The Culture have yet to issue an official statement regarding the technical failures or the complaints raised by Amaarae’s management.
