Ahead of the Parliamentary primaries for the NDC in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has denounced his friendship with his best man and colleague actor Fred Nuamah.
This comes about after the latter (Fred Nuamah) announced his intention to contest the seat which was earlier contested by John Dumelo in 2020.
Speaking in an interview on UTV monitored by Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment news – www.nydjlive.com, John Dumelo revealed he never told his ‘friend’ of a decision not to contest the seat again let alone offer him his blessings.
“At no point did I tell Fred that I am not contesting in Ayawaso West Wuogon, at no point.”
He also denied allegations that a number of people including Yaw Sakyi were present when he made the declaration not to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat.
“That is a lie. I never had a conversation with Yaw Sakyi about Fred Nuamah. Never, I can never give Fred Nuamah my blessings, when he knows I am coming to contest in Ayawaso West Wuogon? Why would I do that?” Dumelo quizzed.
According to John Dumelo, the two have since ceased to be friends as Fred Nuamah is on an expedition to marr his reputation.
“We are not friends, as we speak now, we are not friends. We haven’t been friends for a couple of weeks now.”
According to Fred who was Dumelo’s best man when the actor married in 2019, he will not step down because Dumelo initially had no intention to join the Ayawaso West Wuogon contest; rather, he eyed another constituency.
“Frankly, it’s late to step down. My brother informed me and a lot of people that he was not going to contest the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency again. He gave me his blessings when I made up my mind to contest.
“Truthfully, I am surprised about his u-turn because it was evident and crystal clear that he was not going for the Ayawaso seat anymore and rather invested in Guan/SALL,” Graphic Showbiz quotes Fred Nuamah to have said in an interview with the newspaper.
In early February, Fred Nuamah made his intention public by announcing his bid with posters on his social media pages.
