Ghanaian born Blitz the Ambassador wins $35,000 at the Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise.

Ghanaian-born, New York-based MC, composer, and producer Mr. Samuel Bazawule popularly known as Blitz The Ambassador is the next Ghanaian to be recognized and appreciated internationally for his exceptional achievement and contribution to the American dream.

Blitz won an award for Contemporary Music at The 2013 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise could not hide his joy as he said,

Truly honored and blessed to be chosen as one of the winners of the 2013 Vilcek Prize recognizing immigrant contributions to the American Arts and Sciences.

The 2013 Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise in Biomedical Science were awarded to Dr. Hashim Al-HashimiDr. Michael Rape, and Dr. Joanna Wysocka.

In Contemporary Music, Mr. James “JHart” AbrahartMr. Samuel Bazawule (AKA Blitz the Ambassador), and Mr. Tigran were selected as the recipients.

The Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise were established in 2009 as a complement to the Vilcek Prizes, to encourage and support younger immigrants who have already demonstrated exceptional achievements, and who often face significant challenges early in their careers.

In 2013, the Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise program was expanded from one winner in each category to three winners, each receiving an increased cash prize of $35,000.
