FIFA confirmed on Friday that each host country—Mexico, Canada, and the United States—will hold its own distinct celebration to reflect its unique cultural identity. The festivities begin on June 11 at Mexico City Stadium, followed by ceremonies in Toronto and Los Angeles on June 12, setting the stage for the largest tournament in football history.
Mexico City Stadium – Mexico
On Thursday, 11 June, the world will turn its eyes to Mexico as it opens the FIFA World Cup 2026™ with a celebration full of sound, colour, and meaning. It is the first note in a tournament that will echo across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, united by a shared passion for the game that connects millions worldwide.
The opening ceremony at Mexico City Stadium, setting the stage 90 minutes before kick-off, will bring together some of the most exciting voices in global music. Those who will take the stage in a powerful performance to bring the sound of the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ album to life include Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná and Tyla.
As the first nation to open the tournament, Mexico will set the stage for a trilogy of opening ceremonies that will continue across Canada and the United States.
Los Angeles — United States of America
The FIFA World Cup 2026™ will open with a landmark celebration across North America, highlighted by a spectacular opening ceremony in Los Angeles — the world’s entertainment capital — bringing together football, music and entertainment on a global stage.
On Friday, 12 June, the United States will welcome the world to Los Angeles for a defining moment in FIFA World Cup™ history.
Global superstars Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla will headline the celebrations in Los Angeles, with additional world-renowned artists still to be announced.
Canada
On Friday, 12 June, at 13:30 local time, Canada will take centre stage as it hosts its opening ceremony for the FIFA World Cup 2026™, welcoming the world with a vibrant celebration inspired by its communities, rich diversity and the unifying power of football.
Global music stars will help bring that story to life, with Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Elyanna, Jessie Reyez, Michael Bublé, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy, Vegedream, William Prince and more among the artists performing. Through music that reflects the energy and diversity of the tournament, the show will connect fans in Toronto to celebrations unfolding across Canada, Mexico and the United States.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino noted that the ceremonies, produced in partnership with Balich Wonder Studio, are designed to show the “unity that defines this tournament” while highlighting the “vibrancy of the host nations’ many diasporas”. Fans attending the matches are encouraged to arrive at least 90 minutes before kickoff to participate in the interactive elements of the shows.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will feature 104 matches across 16 Host Cities, beginning on Thursday, 11 June in Mexico City and culminating in the final on Sunday, 19 July at New York New Jersey Stadium.
