Emirates airline has announced its flagship A380 will make historic landing At the Kotoka International Airport on October 2, 2018.
The landing however will be on a special one-off service to celebrate the opening the newly built Terminal 3.
The announcement has been warmly welcomed by many who have experienced the services of Emirates.
Airport operator and manager Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) broke ground on the construction of its flagship project (Terminal 3) at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in March 2016.
The new terminal upon commissioning on October 2, 2018 will ease the pressure on the existing two terminals and is expected to handle up to five million passengers a year, with an expansion potential up to 6.5 million passengers.
The expansion at KIA is expected to generate 900 temporary jobs and 760 permanent jobs during the operations and maintenance phase.
The Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) on Friday, July 20 started taking major steps towards ‘going live’ with the new Kotoka International Airport (KIA) terminal three as two aircrafts docked at the new terminal.
Airlines Delta Air and South Africa Airways landed at the new terminal three with passengers from the United States for operational tests of the new aerobridges.
From Private Suites and Shower Spas in First Class, flat-bed seats in Business Class, and custom lighting in Economy Class, the Emirates A380 is as close as it comes to flying in your own private jet.
