At the news of his supposed car accident and sudden death, only one thing came to mind and your guess could be as good as mine. If not, you were perhaps one of the people who “wasted” your precious time praying fervently for God to save him out of a supposed “accident which was very critical”.
Well my update on Facebook was;
Nana Boroo could have gone with a better publicity stunt than ” a fatal car accident and near death situation”. Be careful what you wish for. Well if thats what you want, may your wishes comes through in Jesus name!!! (Evil Grin)
It is quite normal for so many celebrities to intelligently craft news for themselves but I guess this one with the Ghanaian musician did not work with me. Well, Nana Boroo could pull a Kanye West (I hope you know what I mean) to get his name out there than faking news of his death although he has suddenly refuted knowledge of masterminding such a publicity stunt.
Nana Boroo who spoke to Accra based Joy fm disclosed “I think that is so false. I woke up to that news,”
Now to who broke the news.
It is so surprising when I read this post on peacefmonline.com written by Eugene Osarfo Nkansah under the title Nana Boroo Kills Himself? that sought to do damage control after making that information known via their channel. Yes, we might have all in one way or the other erred in pushing out some information but this was way too petty for such an institution to do. Read excepts from the article as featured on the website.
Peace FM’s prime time News at 12 was first to break the news on air stating that one Gloria had placed a call to the newsroom whiles they were preparing for the 12 o’clock news to reveal the shocking information adding to rumours on social media.
According to the news team Gloria who introduced herself as a Ghanaian living in America and someone close to Nana Boroo agreed to speak on air in the News to confirm the information but interestingly, Gloria refused to answer her phone when it was time for her to speak on air.
However, it was still reported in the news as unconfirmed report after efforts to reach any member of his family proved futile, that “Hiplife musician Nana Boroo (real name Nana Osei Bonsu) of “Aha yede” fame was involved in a horrific car accident feared to have taken his life far away in America. According to a source Nana Boroo’s car got damaged beyond repairs as a result of the crush, adding that it would be a miracle for any of the occupants to survive, even though the source couldn’t confirm if Nana Baroo was alive or not”.
After the news bulletin, Peacefmonline.com made several contacts to a number of people close to the musician including friends and family members but nobody is ready to give out any information and this raised some suspicions. The said Gloria who revealed the information has also refused to answer her phone since yesterday till now.
I really wonder who this “one Gloria” is and do we as media just push anything on air or online because many of “one Gloria” calls us to give us information? Are we desperate to break unsubstantiated news and later apologize just as Eugene is trying to do with this damage control?
Well, enough said. Times will really tell the direction of the Ghanaian media.
