Nigerian music superstar and African Giant, Burna Boy has been crowned the Best International Act at the 2023 BET Awards.

The musician who has had an impressive run touring and selling out Arena all over the world beat competition from  Aya Nakamura (France), Ayra Starr (Nigeria), Central Cee (UK), Ella Mai (UK), Ko (South Africa), L7nnon (Brazil), Stormzy (UK), Tiakola (France) and Uncle Waffles (Swaziland).

The Nigerian singer was however not present at the awards show.

Burna Boy takes over from fellow countrywoman Tems, who won the same award at the 2022 BET Awards.

The win makes it the 4th time Burna Boy is winning that particular award.

The 2023 BET Awards aired live Sunday, June 25 from the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles.

FUN FACT!

Nigerian artists have won ‘Best International Act’ at the BET Awards each year since it was first awarded in 2018. 

They are Davido (2018), Tems (2022) and Burna Boy (2019, 2020, 2021, 2023).
