Black Sherif’s latest single, “PopStar”, has officially made a grand entrance onto the Official UK Afrobeats Chart, debuting at Number 8 for the week of April 4–10, 2026.
The entry marks a significant milestone for the Ghanaian superstar, as “PopStar” is his first official release of 2026, signalling the start of a new creative era following the massive global success of his sophomore album, IRON BOY.
By debuting at Number 8, Black Sherif finds himself in elite company on this week’s chart, including fellow countrymen Dope Nation.
After dominating 2025 with a sold-out world tour and record-breaking streaming numbers, Black Sherif (born Mohammed Ismail Sherif) has pivoted from the gritty, “street preacher” persona of his earlier work toward a more polished, stadium-ready sound.
Produced by his long-time collaborator Joker Nharnah, “PopStar” is described as a reflection on his rapid ascension. While the title suggests a boastful declaration, the song is actually an introspective look at a young artist documenting his life as it unfolds.
The lyrics focus on ambition, clarity, and the courage to dream bigger than the confines of his hometown, Konongo.
