(WATCH) Black Sherif Reveals His Favourite Song Ever: The Song He Sings Every Morning

Billboard charting and 2022 BET Hip Hop Award nominee Black Sherif has disclosed his music is heavily inspired by the sounds he was introduced to in his formative years.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with NY DJ on Y102.5FM in Kumasi, the musician who recently released his debut album The Villain I Never Was made a number of revelations.

According to him, he prefers his music tells real-life stories.

“I don’t like to filter stories or emotions. I put everything in there. That’s how I want to see art from.”

Speaking about the musical influences, Black Sherif revealed saying;

“Real sounds and conscious things influenced my sound. My mum is a big fan of highlife and when I saw my dad for the first time (age 9), the first thing he put me on was Reggae. At some point in class 4, I was singing and performing Harvest Time by Don Carlos. That song has been my favourite forever and I always sing it every morning. I tap into that place and add my message, my life…”

On Thursday, October 6, 2022, Black Sherif released a 14-track album, The Villain I Never Was.

The album which had only one feature with Burna Boy has since garnered over 100 million streams across various digital platforms.
