Broadcast journalist Abena Owusu Nyamekye Ampadu has parted ways with Accra based Citi FM/Citi TV, subsidiaries of Omni Media Limited.
The journalist who has been off the screens and radio for a while made the announcement of her departure via Facebook saying;
“My inbox/DM has been replete with a particular question and I initially decided not to say anything. But upon second thought, that is unfair to people who genuinely mean well.
On 28th May 2021, I ended my journey with Citifm/CitiTv.
It was a great experience.”
Abena Owusu Nyamekye joined Citi FM/Citi TV in May 2018 and spent 3 years with the media outfit.
Previously with STARR 103.5FM and GH One TV (EIB Network), in Accra Ghana, she joined the EIB Network (STARR FM) from Solid FM in 2014, hitherto KFM, where she was the Head of News and shortly assumed the vacant position as the host of the station’s Morning Show (The Morning Mix).
Due to her versatility, Abena intermittently hosted the Station’s mid-morning show and late-night shows.
She started her media career at the now-defunct Radio Xtacy in Kumasi as News Anchor and Reporter in 2008.
In 2012, Abena Joined Kapital Radio; another urban radio station in Kumasi as News Anchor/ Reporter and later hosted the station’s Health Programme “Your Health”.
Abena is very smart, witty, easy-going and has a great sense of humour. She is very passionate about social and health-related issues.
She has supported children living with cancer by raising awareness as a campaign to raise financial support for the children.
Abena also served as the moderator of the reproductive talk Program in tertiary schools in Ghana; Secure Girl’s Talk by PSI- Ghana.
