Global Media Alliance’s much hyped event #LoudInGh for the first time made a stop in at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi as it lined up a host of Ghanaian dancehall artists, Samini, Shatta Wale, Shatta Rako, JupitaR, Stonebuoy and the only female act Kaaki who was missing in action and was believed to be performing at the to be at the Decemba 2 Rememba concert in Accra.
Very characteristic of most events hosted in Ghana, the event scheduled to commence at 7pm delayed until 1:30am although all the basic necessities for the event were ready for the show. Perhaps the “missing ingredient” were the audience who seemed to be having fun as they hanged around the Baba Yara Sports.
Meanwhile in the sports stadium, DJs Kaxtro and Slim were on the turntables treating the few crowd (in GMA’s books) to different songs from various reggae, ragga , dancehall and a mixture of artists worldwide until some upcoming artists were given the opportunity to display their talents.
At 2:00am, Shatta Rako who was billed to open the show set it off on a more relaxed mood psyching the patrons to what was to happen. Performing few of his thought provoking and not too lousy songs, he then jumped into his final song, Badmind on JMJ’s Missile riddim which kept the crowd on their feet till he left the stage. Shatta Rako looked more relaxed and could do better if more energy was exerted in the performance.
The next act was JupitaR D Jeneral who looked a bit worn out despite a good performance. Churning his tracks one after the other, JupitaR kept the crowd singing along and dancing especially when he dropped Go go wind which featured female artist Eazzy.
One after the other, one of Ghana’s finest dancehall artists Stonebuoy, shook the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as he took them through an energetic and thrilling performance. Free styling most often, Stonebuoy showed attitude all times throughout his performance and got the people charged up as he performed Pull Up and Give It To Dem.
His performance was then followed by Samini, who out of all the artists billed for the night was the only person to perform with a live band. Living a great moment on stage, he brought back memories as he went through his wide music repertoire and got everyone at the Sports stadium singing and dancing along. He showed class as a master of live performance as he performed for close 2 hours and even got many of Shatta Wale’ fans who were tired due to the late start of the show raise concerns.
Reliable information gathered indicates Shatta Wale’s management had to intervene to cut down Samini’s performance so as to make way for Shatta Wale whose appearance got his fans shouting and going gaga at the venue. He was on top of his game as usual and kept his fans yearning for more until late when patrons had to start dispersing.
I know what you are waiting for is who “murdered” who but the fact is, each artist was on top of his game. The show was a success but for the late start and the low patronage which marred the beauty of the event.
