Almost Every Executive Producer In This Country Rejected My Song “Aso” – Kwabena Kwabena

Ghanaian music star Kwabena Kwabena has made a shocking revelation about his monster hit single “Aso“.

Released in August 2005, Kwabena Kwabena, in an exclusive interview with NY DJ on Y102.5FM, has revealed that all attempts to secure an executive producer for the project back then failed.

According to the musician, this was because the sound was quite a deviation from the popular songs at the time, and the executive producers had no hope for it.

“The irony is that after recording and mastering, we sought for an executive producer but had none. Almost every executive producer in this country rejected it. I mean it. If you cast your mind back to 2005, you can think about the executive producers back then. You name them. It was quite a new vibe.

It was like a new contemporary highlife music, which had a different style of singing. It had ad-libs, and Kontihene also had a rap on it. It was a different vibe compared to the kind of music which was hitting those days, so almost everybody rejected it. They didn’t really have any hope in it.”

According to Kwabena Kwabena, despite the inability to secure an executive producer for the project, Kontihene, who believed so much in the project, took charge, produced CDs and distributed them to a couple of DJs all over the country, turning the song into a nationwide hit single.

Kwabena Kwabena expressed appreciation to Kontihene for believing and trusting in him as a young artist.

“A big thank you to Kontihene. God bless him so much. He believed in a young artist and threw his weight, effort, and everything to make sure that we were able to produce that album,” he said.
