I Worked As A Maidservant To A Lebanese Family When I First Came To Accra – Fella Makafui
- Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui has shared the story of her humble beginnings.
Like many others who leave various parts of Ghana to the South in search of ‘greener pastures’, the story of Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Precious Fella Makafui is no different.
Born and raised in the Volta Region of Ghana, the actress revealed she worked as a maidservant to a Lebanese family in Accra to survive when she first relocated to Accra.
According to the actress, she left her family in the Volta region because she believed she could only achieve her dreams in the big city.
“I lived most of my childhood life in the Volta region with my mum until I left for Accra with the hopes of achieving my dreams of being an actress,” she said.
Narrating her journey upon arrival in Accra, she said;
“Life was very unstable when I first came to Accra so I kept going back to the Volta Region for about three times before I finally decided not to return to my mum in the Volta region.
Initially, I lived with a friend (a mate from Senior High School) who suddenly asked that I pack out of her house. I then left for the Volta Region and returned to work as a maidservant to a Lebanese family in Accra.”
Recounting her experiences, Fella Makafui who only worked for a year as a maidservent revealed the experiences she went through empowered her to treat others better.
“I had no choice then than to cope with the horrible experiences at the time but I feel they are life experiences that make me who I am today. With those experiences, I’m enlightened not to treat others the same way.”
Fella Makafui shared the experience in an interview with radio presenter, B Ice on Agyenkwa FM in Kumasi.
