Rising Ghanaian star Yaw TOG is going places and it seems there’s nothing stopping him.
Coming off the successful release of his maiden Time EP, to winning the Hip Hop Song of the Year at the 3Music Awards ’21 and grabbing two prestigious nominations at the upcoming Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), Yaw TOG has been announced by BET International as the ‘BET Amplified International’ Artist for the month of April.
Yaw TOG is the first male Ghanaian artist to receive that spotlight.
BET Amplified is a monthly initiative by the London-based network BET International to highlight the brightest new voices in music. Under the programme, the network shines a spotlight on emerging artists through feature stories and video content.
“BET Amplified is our seal of approval on the next big thing in music,” BET International said, adding that the programme would “build awareness around Yaw TOG to core audiences globally and will highlight her work in a multitude of ways, including linear and digital programming across the BET Jams, BET Her, BET Soul and BET International channels.”
In February 2021, Ghanaian female alternative singer Amaarae was announced the BET Amplified International. This makes them the only Ghanaian artists to have had that spot so far.
