The management of Ghanaian Gospel musician Ohemaa Mercy has taken responsibility for the arrest of radio pundit Kwaku Osei Krankye Aseidu popularly known as KOKA.
In a statement shared via Instagram, the management revealed that they were responsible for reporting the threats allegedly made against the life of Ohemaa Mercy, leading to the arrest.
The team also absolved JoyNews’ Becky Becks of any involvement in the said arrest and apologized for “being unfairly drawn into this situation, despite her complete lack of knowledge or involvement.”
The statement comes hours after Kwaku Osei Krankye Aseidu (KOKA) accused Joy News’ Rebecca Darko Tweneboah also known as Becky Becks of setting him (KOKA) up for arrest by the police.
The statement reads;
Team Ohemaa Mercy would like to address the events of yesterday and provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the arrest of Kwaku Osei Krankye Aseidu (KOKA)
The team and its lawyers take full responsibility for reporting the threats made against the life of the artiste Ohemaa Mercy, which led to the arrest.
We want to categorically state that Becky of JoyNews had no involvement whatsoever in this matter, nor was she responsible for the arrest of KOKA, as some have speculated.
We extend our sincerest apologies to Becky for being unfairly drawn into this situation, despite her complete lack of knowledge or involvement.
We will provide further updates as necessary in due time.”
On Thursday, September 19, 2024, JoyNews’ Becky Becks in a post responded to an allegation by Kwaku Osei Krankye Aseidu suggesting she (Becky) set him (KOKA) up for arrest by the police.
“I wish to state categorically that I have no idea about the said “set up.” I’m as surprised as KOKA himself following the turn of events.”
KOKA has since been remanded into lawful custody by the Circuit Court in Accra for threatening to inflict harm on her.
The accused Kwaku Osei Korankye Aseidu who worked for the singer as a marketer since 2021 allegedly sent her video messages to announce his resignation.
According to Korankye Asiedu, the Ote me mu hitmaker has failed to include him in some recent jobs.
Offended by the action, the accused threatened Ohemaa to demand an amount of Eight Thousand Five Hundred Cedis. (GHC 8,500.00) for previous work done or face his wrath.
He threatened to organize his boys after her if she didn’t meet his 6 pm August 30 deadline.
Korankye Asiedu is alleged to have continued the threats on his Facebook page
He has since been remanded into lawful custody to reappear before his Honour K.K. Obiri-Yeboah on 26th September 2024.
