(Video) My Songwriting Skills Can Be Compared To That Of Daddy Lumba – Bless
Ghanaian highlife musician Bless Kwabena Boateng popularly known for his 2017 hit single Chocho Mucho believes his pen game can only be equated to that of the legendary musician Charles Kwadwo Fosu aka Daddy Lumba.
Bless, who first burst unto the music scene in 2010 with his hit single Mendanda (recorded under Mark Okraku Mantey’s Slip Music) which featured Okyeame Kwame in an exclusive interview on BTM Afrika stated much credence is not given to him for his music writing ability.
He believes this is because he does not associate with a certain group of individuals in the industry or have a strong ‘army’ behind him.
“My writing skill is such that I could go straight to the point or get the listener some work in decoding my lyrics just like Daddy Lumba and others do. I’m confident I can even challenge Daddy Lumba on that level. I’m not by this saying I’m better than Daddy Lumba or challenging him but I see that gift and know that in five years when I have enough to push my craft, people will see me as such,” he said.
In this exclusive interview below, Bless talks about going on a musical hiatus after 2010, losing his YouTube channel after Chocho Mucho garnered 5 million views, concerns of recording another hit song, his writing skills, being a threat to a lot of Ghanaian artists and more.
