Having had a great year with a number of hit songs and being billed for almost every major event in the country, Lynx Entertainment protege Kuami Eugene has been tipped by many Ghanaians to win the artist of the year at the Ghana Music Awards but wait!
The Walaahi hit maker has his eyes set on something else. Although an artist of the year win will be excellent, the musician, born Eugene Kwame Marfo has his eye on the highlife artist of the year category.
In an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the Rockstar stated that calls by many for him to be crowned artist of the year at the Ghana Music Awards is a clear indication of how hard he has worked this year.
“I feel good. It means you’re working. It means people are proud of you and rooting for you to be artist of the year but I can’t be in any position to ask that it be given to me because I deserved. All I can do is just be hopeful and wait for good things that will come my way. If it’s part of the good things that will come my way next year, I’ll give glory to God.
As to whether he’s expectant of an artist of the year crown, Kuami Eugene stated saying;
“I’m actually focusing on highlife artist of the year more than artist of the year. I mean I’ve been doing highlife music for sometime now, I’m still rooting for highlife music so I would rather choose highlife artist of the year.
He was however quick to add that an artist of the year win will also mean much for him.
Kuami Eugene also responded to accusations of ‘stealing’ music and many others.
Kuami Eugene was crowned the Highlife Artist of the Year at the 2018 Vodafone Ghana Music Awardsbeating label mate Kidi, veterans Wutah and songstress Becca.
