There’s No Tie! Everyone Knows I Won The MC/Hype Man Of The Year – Kojo Manuel
Award-winning event MC/Hypeman and host of Dryv of Ur Lyfe on Y107.9FM Kojo Manuel has expressed dissatisfaction at Merqury Republic, organizers of the annual Ghana DJ Awards.
His dissatisfaction stems from the fact that two winners including himself were announced in the Event MC/Hypeman of the Year category at this year’s event.
Speaking in an interview on 3 Music TV as monitored by Nydjlive, a visibly unenthused Kojo Manuel registered his displeasure saying;
“I don’t believe there’s anything like a tie. I don’t think Ghana would have an election and say the NPP and NDC won. I never understand the notion behind the tie and I haven’t had any official statement from the Ghana DJ Awards on why that happened.”

He continued by saying;
“Everybody knows the work I’ve done the year under review so I don’t know what you’re comparing it to. Unfortunately, we’ve got to a point where you win an award and you have to explain yourself because someone else is…”
Asked what his relationship with MC Portfolio with whom he shared the spoilt, Kojo Manuel said;
“I’m a Kumasi boy so I know of him and we’ve met a couple of times. We’ve had conversations. We’ve not had a conversation after the awards”
On Saturday, November 9, 2024, YFM Accra’s Kojo Manuel and MC Portfolio were announced winners in the Best MC/Hypeman category at the 2024 Ghana DJ Awards held at the Palms Convention Center in Accra, Ghana.
The announcement caused some confusion among industry players as both mounted the stage to accept their awards and offer acceptance speeches.
