The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Needs Continuity

A group of creative arts practitioners in Kumasi has called on the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo to prioritize the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) by appointing personalities who will ensure continuity.

Ahead of the official announcement of Ministers to the various ministries, the group in a statement said;

“The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) is one of the ministries that has not seen stability in our recent political discourse and has since led to very little achievement.  We have also observed that it takes about two years for an appointed minister to really know, understand and get acclimatized at the ministry. However, enough time is not given to the said minister to implement projects and programmes before he or she is either changed or ends the term in office.”

The group has then pleaded with the President to appoint someone with enough knowledge about the industry.

“It is our humble opinion that H.E. the President appoints someone who has knowledge about our industry and is familiar with the various domains that fall under the ministry so that the Minister hits the ground running, ” the group said.
