TGMA 27: Nominees For Group Of The Year, Other Categories To Be Announced

A sigh of relief for music groups in Ghana.

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events & Communications at Charterhouse, has assured music groups and Ghanaian music lovers that nominees for the Group Of The Year in the 2026 Telecel Ghana Music Awards will be announced soon.

The current assurance is a sharp contrast to earlier reports that suggested that the Group of the Year category at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards had been retired permanently.

Speaking with Kwame Dadzie on Daybreak Hitz, Robert Klah said,

“This week, all those announcements are going to be made. The Group of the Year has not been cancelled. I never announced that it (the category) was cancelled. All we said was that some categories had not been announced.”

Robert Klah also revealed that other categories, including African Song of the Year and Music for Good, would be announced in due course.

“We usually announce Music for Good later, but we are going to do that early this time because we want people to understand what happens in that space with respect to Music for Good. An early announcement will keep people informed and inspired to use their music to do good. We will announce that together with their projects,” he said.

He would, however, not share the reasons for the late announcement of the remaining categories.

“There are a number of things I may not be able to share… The reality is that we did announce that some of the categories that are unannounced will be announced, and that’s exactly what we are doing.”
