Stormzy Wins BBC Music’s Artist of The Year award

Stormzy, Foo Fighters and Rag N Bone Man have been announced as winners of the BBC Music Awards 2017.

For the annual awards’ fourth year, winners were announced during a one-hour BBC Two special ‘The Year In Music 2017’, hosted by Radio 1 DJ Clara Amfo and Claudia Winkleman. The live arena format from previous years was cancelled due to poor ratings.

The Gang Signs & Prayer star bagged the Artist of the Year Award – rounding off an incredible year which saw him take home three MOBOs, hit Number One with his debut album and perform at the BRITs and Glastonbury.

“I’m actually blessed to be able to say that I’m an artist that’s managed to be regarded as someone that’s worthy of this award,” Stormzy said of the win. “Thank you guys. Love.”

“I keep thinking at one point that someone is going to fishhook me off and tell me it’s a joke, but it’s not, and it’s a wonderful thing to have,” he said.
