Stonebwoy Is The Greatest Ghanaian Music Ambassador At The Moment – Root Eye
Veteran reggae music star and media presenter, Kwesi Nyarko Ofei, also known as Root Eye has described Afro dancehall artist, Stonebwoy, as the greatest Ghanaian music ambassador at the moment.
Speaking in an interview with DJ Slim on Hitz FM monitored by Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment News – www.nydjlive.com, Root Eye described Stonebwoy as living the dreams of many musicians.
“I’ve stopped calling him Stonebwoy. I’m calling him Honourable Satekla because, at the moment, musically, he is the greatest Ghanaian music ambassador. Yes, because this man is sending us places we never thought we would be. The young man is taking us places where we never imagined. If we have to be honest, he is living the dreams that most of us had and couldn’t attain. We are living our dreams through this guy. So we cannot water down his contribution or the role that this guy is playing for us at the moment.
Responding to Stonebwoy’s recent call for recognition in a recent article titled 10 Artists Essential To Ghanaian Hiplife: Reggie Rockstone, Sarkodie, Mzbel & More published by the Grammy, Root Eye agreed with Stonebwoy that there were a lot of inaccuracies in the material, however, he believes referencing Stonebwoy in such an article would have been out of place.
“I noticed and started talking about Stonebwoy in 2009. Hiplife had even taken a nosedive. Hiplife had had its time and fizzled out somehow so if the story of Hiplife is being told properly, it would not include anybody that came in after 2005. Anybody after that era would not be recorded in the story of Hiplife because it all started from 1994 to 2005. Anybody who came outside that bracket wouldn’t be recognized by the connoisseurs of the genre,” he said.
