Staff of Asaase 100.3 Cape Coast Laid Off With Immediate Effect

Asaase Broadcasting Company Limited has officially terminated the employment of some of its on-air staff at the Asaase Radio Cape Coast station, effective January 31.

In a letter signed by the General Manager, Kojo Mensah, and shared with some of the on-air staff, the decision follows a thorough review by the Board regarding the station’s current performance and financial strength.

The letter states that despite various strategic efforts to bolster operations and increase revenue, the Cape Coast outlet failed to meet necessary financial thresholds. The company explicitly stated that continuing operations in Cape Coast was no longer economically viable, as generated revenue had fallen short of covering basic running costs.

Management clarified that the layoffs are strictly a business decision aimed at protecting the organization’s broader interests and are not a reflection of individual employee conduct.

In line with labour law practices, the station has promised the laid-off staff a salary in lieu of notice equivalent to one (1) month’s salary payable.

A couple of the laid-off staff shared cryptic messages on social media expressing their disappointment at the turn of events.
