Rihanna Talks Unplanned Pregnancy, Fears & More As She Covers Latest Edition Of Vogue Magazine (Photos)

Rihanna has revealed that her pregnancy with beau A$AP Rocky was unplanned as she graced the cover of Vogue‘s May 2022 issue in a stunning semi-sheer lace catsuit.

The singer, 34, went underwear free wearing a semi-sheer lace red catsuit and matching heels before showcasing her bare bump in a black fur coat for the stunning shoot.

In an interview with the publication, Rihanna detailed how she’s ‘scared’ hearing stories from other women who have struggled with post-natal depression and she’s ‘frightened’ of feeling ‘out of control emotionally’ when she gives birth to her first child.

Discussing the start of her pregnancy journey, Rihanna said: ‘I wouldn’t say planning. But certainly not planning against it. I don’t know when I ovulate or any of that type of s**t. We just had fun.

‘And then it was just there on the test. I didn’t waste any time. I called him inside and showed him. Then I was in the doctor’s office the next morning and our journey began.’

Asked about her biggest fear when she gives birth, the hitmaker said: ‘Postpartum depression. Will I feel out of control emotionally? Those are the stories I hear from other women that scare me.’

Discussing her plans for the day she gives birth, Rihanna admitted Covid restrictions may hinder plans to have all her friends and family present, but joked she may just ‘hire a party bus’ to park outside.

Despite these concerns, Rihanna added that she is determined to carry on managing her billion-dollar empire while raising her first child, saying: ‘Balance is one of my biggest challenges and always has been. And now there’s another human being coming into play, it changes what that means again.

‘Still, I have businesses that aren’t going to run themselves. My mom handled the three of us with not even close to the amount of resources that I have, so I can absolutely do it. What it looks like? I’m not sure.’

Rihanna also defended her redefining of pregnancy fashion and embracing her changing body, having been proudly showcasing her bump in an array of scantily-clad looks.

‘I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women. My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that,’ she said

‘This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?’

‘When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle. I’m sorry—it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.’

While Rihanna and A$AP Rocky began dating in 2020, the pair had been friends since 2013, and the star confessed it took her a long time to see him in a romantic light.

She said: ‘People don’t get out of the friend zone very easily with me and I certainly took a while to get over how much I know him and how much he knows me, because we also know how much trouble we can land each other in.’

The star admitted her romance with Rocky slowly blossomed during the Covid pandemic, describing him as ‘her family during that time.’

‘I cooked our food on this little janky grill I bought from Walmart. I still have it, too. It works like nobody’s business. I love the simple things but also the grand adventures. There’s no pretentious my-brand-your-brand b******t, it’s just us living. I just feel like I can do any part of life by his side.’

As she prepares to welcome her first child, Rihanna said she never planned to fall pregnant outside of wedlock, adding: ‘I always thought it would be marriage first, then a baby, but who the f**k says it has to be that way. I’m certainly not gonna let that get in the way of me being a mom.’
