At the announcement of a comedy show at Wembley’s popular SSE Arena, Wembley I felt Nigerian comedian Basketmouth was being over ambitious but just as he has done in his home country and several other African countries, the comedian nailed it and made history.
Packing the 10,000 seater capacity SSE Arena, Wembley, Basketmouth with the support of Nigerian musicians Burna Boy and Mr. Eazi entertained an elated audience that cuts across generations and colour.
African comedy – and by extension, African lifestyle and culture – has certainly come a very long way over the years in gaining international notoriety, especially with the rise and rise of African music on a much more global platform.
Basketmouth is nothing short of a comedy legend in Africa with a top tier career that has spanned over three continents lasted over 15 years at the very highest level and won him every accolade a Nigerian comedian could only dream of receiving.
