Being irrelevant in showbiz is as good as being dead (literally) and therefore a number of celebrities around the world have occasionally planted stories so as to get discussed either for particular projects or stay relevant.
Need examples? Well, there are a lot around you. Just figure them by answering this question.
How often have you had to skip a story you came across online simply because you felt it was planted or did not merit a publication on that blog? At times, it might not interest you genuinely but on other occasions, it’s simply because it doesn’t cut for you.
In a recent interview with Ghanaian Hiplife artist Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah well-known as MzBel on #RYSENSHYNE, my morning show on Y102.5FM in Kumasi, I asked her about the issue of planting stories in the media and if she has been involved.
Asked if she ever plants stories in the media so as to stay relevant, the 16 Years hit maker responded in the negative.
She stated she needn’t go employ that approach to stay relevant.
According to the musician who recently released a new smash hit single Tongues, she has even had to beg news portals to pull down some of the stories they write about her.
“I’ve never done that. I don’t plant stories and don’t see why I should do that. Honestly, there are moments I even ask my team to contact some blogs to take down certain articles they write about me. I do a lot of charity work and engage in a lot of activities on the blind side of the media so planting stories is not for me,” she said.
MzBel, who had been off active music for the past 5 years recently released a new single Tongues which is already receiving positive reviews and enjoying widespread airplay.
