Since our publication on how much it cost Ghanaian red carpet slay queen Nana Akua Addo her gown for the 2017 BET Awards held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, many have wondered and questioned why she would spend so much money on a gown for an event without even being recognized by any ‘international’ media outfit.
Well, but for us at Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment – www.nydjlive.com who covered her appearance and did an extensive search on how much it costs, only a handful really cared.
Anyway, straight to the issue.
Nana Akua Addo did not just move to LA for the 2017 BET Awards. She really planned her visit and had enough time on her hands.
Apart from her dress costing over GHC37,000, it took four months for the designers to get it ready. Yes!! That’s how long it takes for the designers to get it ready.
According to inquiries made by Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & Urban Entertainment – www.nydjlive.com, the gown produced by Leo Almodal Haute Couture not only does it take four months for designers to get it ready, whoever needs the gown will be required to fill a body measurement form (obviously necessary) and a video chat with designers to check the body form and skin tone so as to prepare a gown that marches the body.
What an exhaustive job. Congrats Nana Akua Addo, you truly deserve the Ghanaian slay queen title.
