MzVee Named Among ‘Top African Artists to Watch Out for in 2016’

Ghanaian dancehall artist MzVee has been named among the ‘Top African Artists to Watch Out for in 2016′ by Africa’s biggest music TV channel MTV Base.

Selected as the only Ghanaian in addition to 31 others from across the African continent but mainly Nigeria and Eastern Africa, this comes as a big feat for the Natural Girl hit maker who recently received a nomination at the BET.

This list is the first of its kind by MTV Base. It follows the recent release of the channel’s much talked about ‘SA’s Hottest MCs’ and ‘Naija’s Hottest Artists’ 2015 Top 10 lists, but in contrast features acts from across the continent.

The criteria for Top African Acts To Watch Out For in 2016 was based on: how much noise the artist has made in their region, how much airplay (TV and radio) the artist has been shown recently and how massive their single(s) became that were released this year.

Other artists on the list include Kiss Daniel, Reekado Banks, Tekno, Di’Ja, Niniola, Prodigio and many others.

Born Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda but affectionately known as MzVee, the artist released her second album Verified on the 20th of November 2015 at the African Regent Hotel in Accra, Ghana.

The 10 track album features M.I. Abaga, Shaydee, Akwaboah, Sarkodie, Efya.

Watch a video of MzVee and Kidi (winner f MTN Hitmaker) perform a live rendition of Locked Away at the launch of her second album, Verified.
