MUSIGA Faces Another Challenge As Central Region Members Defect

The current administration of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) led by Bice Osei Kuffour popularly known as Obour might be not having it easy at all as allegations are leveled against them virtually each passing week. MUSIGA

Not too long ago, the veterans and the aged members of MUSIGA complained of the Obour led administration keeping some monies intended for them and this week, a group which calls itself Concerned MUSIGA members of the Central Region have according to a press release copied to indicated that the National office of MUSIGA has been selective in dealing with other regional bodies therefore neglecting those considered to be in the rural areas.

Stating among many reasons, the group found it worrisome that their members in need of introductory letters  were required to pay an amount of Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH₵ 50.00) prior to swearing an affidavit.

The group also states that although they are aware MUSIGA executives are remunerated with sums between Five hundred Ghana Cedis (GH₵500.00) and  Two thousand, Eight hundred Cedis (GH₵2,800.00) monthly without thinking of the members welfare who pay an amount of Sixty Ghana Cedis (GH₵60.00) annually.

The group in a statement said;

Based on the issues stated above and considering our current fate in MUSIGA, we the concerned members of MUSIGA in the Central Region have decided that we have to be part of a more vibrant and collaborative organization. We therefore by this notification state categorically here today that we have defected from the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) to the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) which is a member of the Music Council of Ghana of the International Music Council of UNESCO and subsequently ceases to be members of MUSIGA.

We know for sure that the Musicians and Dancers Association of Ghana (MUDAG) has well organized structures which will polish the music and dancing industry and help most of us realize our dreams.
