Ghanaian music star Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah also known as Akwaboah Jnr. is readying the release of his second album Lighthouse.
Announced on May 19, 2021, anticipations went through the roof especially as he released the first single Ensesa off the album days back.
The single which talks about partners being met at the door with one trouble or the other after a hard day’s work explores a unique sound; one that pushes us to speak to Akwaboah.
Speaking exclusively to NY DJ on Y102.5FM, Akwaboah explained the reason for exploring a new sound with Ensesa.
He said, “You know I’m a wide listener when it comes to music. I don’t listen to only Ghanaian songs. I listen to other foreign songs and so I was just thinking about something that will be a bit different from the norm and I think this is the perfect instrumentation I had for the song”
Ensesa was produced by Akwaboah with production by Steve Bedi playing the saxophone.
I guess you can’t wait for the album any longer. Well, this is all we know about the upcoming album so far!
Why Lighthouse?
Just like the lighthouse deeply rooted close to the sea, it stands against all the odds (waves) and still shines brighter for lost ships and people to find their ways home.
Strictly a highlife album?
Well, Lighthouse album won’t be a strict highlife project. According to Akwboah, the album explores a number of genres including highlife and reggae. “The goal is not to sound one way,” Akwaboah says.
Number of Tracks
Although yet to settle on the number of tracks for the album, Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & urban Entertainment News – www.nydjlive.com understands it might be in the same range as his debut album. Lighthouse album may have about 12 or 13 songs.
Collaborations or Features?
Although the album is 90% of Akwaboah, he recruits a number of artists he has strong ties with for this album. These artists include Efya, Adina, Sarkodie and Strongman.
When Is The Album Dropping?
Although not announced yet, Ghana’s Hub For Pop Culture & urban Entertainment News – www.nydjlive.com understands Akwaboah is putting final touches to one more song which will make it to the album.
We can however speculate that the Lighthouse album may be released no later than August 2021.
