The just ended Kumawood awards show is still generating heat in Kumasi.
While others believe it was a total failure, others believe it’s a stepping stone for better things to come.
However, popular DJ and host of Kapital Radio’s ‘Homestretch’ disagrees. Ebenezer Donkoh aka NY DJ says Kumawood is no joke but a lot needs to be done to set it on the right path.
“Irrespective of the kind of industry it is here, we need to appreciate it and look for the shortfalls to make it better..the idea is plausible but execution mars the whole thing,” he told Totalshowbiz in an interview.
According to him, proper branding of the whole event can save it.
“The name has always brought about issues and it’s better they make a clear statement as the meaning and why that title. If that is made clear, people will then want to open up to the event itself and patronize it although it has been accepted widely by the actors and actresses and industry players in Kumasi”.
NY DJ is therefore urging the Kumasi media to help prop up the event.
“The media always serve as check and therefore would have to do its work by talking about the loop holes but we should project the positives more than the negatives if it so happens.”
