Jojo Abot to Rock Audience at The Black Star Celebration on May 18th

Jojo Abot, a fast rising star on the Ghanaian music scene with an impressive vocal talent and an immerse practice of Jazz and Soul welded into African rhythm and form is set to rock Ghanaian music lovers at the upcoming Black Star Celebrations scheduled for the 18th of May 2013 at the Alliance Francaise, Accra. The event which is a part of Jojo’s recent focus on promoting the strength and artistic empowerment of African women will be a major focus of the Black Star Celebration concert of May 2013 as she invites several other talented female Ghanaian artists to share the stage with her, singing both original compositions and timeless classics.

Since her 2012 concert, her repertoire has grown as she has performed at more events, including the ChaleWote Street Art Festival, Indie Fuse, and, most recently, the prestigious annual Rotary Ball at the Mövenpick Ambassadorial Hotel.

The two-set production on the 18th of May 2013 will see Jojo perform her new and original compositions, as well as old favorites.

Jojo will  again, bring her polished live band along with traditional percussionists, as only they could add a distinctly Ghanaian flavour to her performance and has promised audience a captivating piece including excellent costuming from her own design line, choreographed dance and charming stage presence.

Jojo has featured prominently in Accra’s independent music festivals IndieFuse and the ChaleWote Street Art Festival. Her major solo shows include appearances at Alliance Française in Accra and the Mövenpick Ambassadorial Hotel (where she was hosted by Rotary International.) She has also appeared in many live shows at Accra’s best jazz spots, Taverna Tropicana and +233, and in live shows in New York City.
