Ever watched the 2009 comedy film Janky Promoters where two shady concert promoters (Ice Cube, Mike Epps) get in over their heads when they try to organize a concert headlined by rapper Young Jeezy? Well, something of a sort just happened and the artist, (this time round a Ghanaian) is calling for the arrest of the promoter.
Fast rising Ghanaian rap artist signed to AMG Record, Medikal has called for the arrest of CEO of Loggy Entertainment, Papa Loggy for an alleged fraud. In a post shared on Facebook, the rapper asked any individual who knew the whereabouts of the promoter to report him to the police for a cash reward of GHC5000 (five thousand cedis). (Quite an archaic way of trying to recoup your money from an event promoter right?, lol)
Explaining the reason for the call for arrest, Medikal in an interview with www.nydjlive.com explain, the event organizer billed him and Joey B for a concert in Sunyani but was told upon arrival that the turn out was not impressive and that they should boycott it.
However, the two (Joey B and Medikal) refused and went to the event grounds. Upon seeing a large number of people, the two decided to perform and were even beaten by heavy rains causing damages to their personal laptops.
His frustration however stems from the fact that the promoter left them stranded and has since not been seen. He also states Papa Loggy has avoided picking their calls referring to them as “unprofessional artists”.
Loggy Entertainment is said to be owing the two an estimated amount of GHC20,000.
Papa Loggy, CEO of Loggy Events, is however yet to speak to the issue.
