Invest in Yourself and Not Make Up – Leila Djansi Tells Ghanaian Celebrities

Leila Djansi

When last did you watch that amazing performance by your favourite Ghanaian actress in a movie that left you in awe and yearning for more? Pretty sure it’s been close to a decade.

Now ask yourself, when last did you see that butt naked bikini picture, promotional picture or close shot make up face picture of the same personality? I’m sure you need not blink to answer because you probably saw one all over the internet a minute ago or it’s sitting right in your face.

Yes, that’s how fast your favourite actress has turned her job into. Wearing make up and taking photographs just so some bloggers can post on their websites because they, on the other hand, have no better content to publish.

For anyone who has really followed my work as a journalist for a while, you need not be told that certain materials don’t find space on my Yes, such content attract traffic and get you some few dollars but forget that. I believe my readers and YOU deserve better!

Now back to the real matter. Multi award-winning movie producer and scriptwriter Leila Djansi’s recent “attack” on Ghanaian celebs (which for the purpose of this article has to be tricked down to actresses) comes as really good one that needed to be re-echoed hence my article.

Well, for many who know Leila Djansi, no one needs to tell you how brutally blunt she is with issues and in as much as I don’t agree with her utterances all the time (it’s normal, we can’t agree to everything), I find her latest message to Ghanaian celebrities a very necessary one.

The producer in a tweet revealed how interesting the Ghanaian celebs (actresses) invest heavily in wearing up make up, taking photographs just for SOME “lazy” bloggers who have no content to pick them up and share instead of investing the same amount of money in attending film festivals to learn about their job, connect with colleagues from other parts of the world and supporting each other.

Well, you could call it CHOICES but I believe for anyone who calls herself an actress, the ultimate is to grow as one and nothing else.

Leila however took advantage of the situation to announce a number of Film Festivals including the Urban World Film Festival and Savannah Film Festival.

Leila has had a love-hate relationship with a number of Ghanaian celebrities because of her utterances but like I stated earlier, her point is valid and I don’t know how you feel about it but you could easily share your opinion with the rest of the world on the comment box below.
