I Have Not Decided On Contesting For The GHAMRO Chairman Yet – Rex Omar
The chairman of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO), Mr Rexford Owusu Marfo is yet to decide on contesting for the chairman position come 2021 when the organization goes to the polls.
The musician who has for the past 3 years held the fort for the organization made this known during an interview with NY DJ on Y102.5FM in Kumasi.
“I have not decided that yet because there are so many things that are happening that will help me make a decision so, for now, I have not decided whether I will go or not,” he said.
Asked if his position as a spokesperson for the creative arts for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the campaign season will be one of the things that will inform his decision, Rex Omar responded saying;
“My position as a spokesperson for the NDC ends by November because that position ends just when we do the general elections. This is a temporal position. We are speaking to the manifesto and the manifesto leads to an election so when we finish the elections, there’s no such thing like a spokesperson for the creative arts even though I will still talk about creative arts issue because I am a creative art person but that is not the reason, I have other things in mind that are competing with most of the things I do so I’m waiting. At least by early next year, I will a clear understanding of what I want to do.”
Commenting on the recent Annual General Meeting of the organization held at the KNUST School of Business in Kumasi, the Abiba hitmaker described it as “very successful. In fact, knowing my membership, I believe this is one of the best AGMs,” he said.
